I don’t have a full history of Palin’s environmenal record, since she was just picked moments ago, but I can tell you this:
- She’s a member of the National Rifle Association
- She’s loves to hunt and fish
- Her husband is the production manager at one of BP’s Alaskan oil fields on the North Slope
What do those things mean?
- Don’t count on her for endangered species - she’s already said the Polar Bear’s protection was “unjustified,” and would “open the floodgates” for other species
- She’ll put oil first - it seems many Alaskan’s believe oil is the lifeblood of their economy, and with a husband in the business, you can bet she’ll want drilling in ANWR and less protected species and places
It looks like McCain is running scared and has picked an unconventional VP candidate to counter Obama’s message of “change.”
I don’t see what’s so “unconventional” about a candidate, male or female, who wants more oil drilling and thinks protected species get in the way.
Do you think Sarah Palin was a good choice? Are you concerned about her stances on the environment? Leave a comment!

I am very concerned about McCain’s selection and her environmental record, especially with her husband in the oil business. It seems like republican leaders have been tangled up with the oil industry for decades, and I was looking forward to a ticket without that association. So much for that. McCain still seems to be against opening ANWR, and I just hope he can keep his VP in check, at least in that respect.
She loves polar bear! Tastes great!
Sara Palin just said that she has stood up to the major oil companies. Dos that mean she had a fight with her husband?
The McCain ticket just got worse. An anti-environmentalist in the pocket of big oil. Is there anything new and different with the GOP?
