About ScienceSays

JEFF, WASHINGTON, DC

Hi everybody-

My name’s Jeff, and I created Science Says to address scientific, environmental, and conservation issues in a straight-forward, accessible way. Many people in the sciences pride themselves on making things complicated, but I believe that science is only as important as the people who hear about it and can learn from it.

In this blog, I’m going to use my background in biology and international politics to try to help explain conservation and environmental issues as clearly as possible, and also point out why some of the more confusing things are also some of the most important.

A lot of  this blog will be about conservation, and specifically the global threat to endangered species and biodiversity.

My personal passion is helping people to better understand why animals that may be scary or unimportant to us are still worth saving, and why they may be essential for the health of our planet.

I’m also very interested in eco-tourism and responsible travel, and at times will address ways in which we all can be more responsible travelers and special places or things that I think people should see.

If you enjoy this site, I hope you’ll subscribe to get all of our articles sent right to you and to stay updated on everything going on here at the site. It’s easy - you can even get them right in your email inbox.

Thanks for checking out Science Says!

- Jeff

I think we share a common goal in making science accessible to all and educating people about why certain issues are significant. I spent my whole last semester of college tutoring a kid who was for drilling in ANWR and I kept trying to explain to him why it’s a bad idea.

    Great job on the blog!
